Obviously, when Dorset County Constabulary was formed, each town, and village had a police station or police house.
Sometimes you have to wait a few years to find them. That was the case for Market Street Station in Poole, Shaftesbury original police station and even Weymouth station on Dorchester Road which I was so familiar with. But one was still missing and took twice as long to find.
This I am sure is the original Bridport police station in South street from 1858 till 1946.
I cannot be 100 per cent sure, but its logical as the photocard is from July 1991 and sent to his home town by Frank DAY PC 22.

Definitely correct. Now Bridport Library. You can see where they have changed the windows and door.

Thanks Rob,
I visited the Library on Friday. If the lady librarian I spoke too gets her way, a copy of this postcard will be framed and put on an interior wall. IAN
